Where to start with this novel?
Sarah Waters is found to be sneaking her way onto my TBR shelf. Waters is an author I would not necessarily have picked up about 12 months ago. However after losing myself in Fingersmith I quickly wanted to read more of Waters. Tipping the Velvet is a book which kept me up all night and helped me get lost in the characters lives. Especially Nan's. Nan is a complex character who we go on journey of self discovery with. A coming of age novel that is full of suspense, humour and love which is beautifully written. The book is split into 3 parts and after every part, you as the reader feel sorry for Nan as things go from bad to worse for her. Not as good as Fingersmith in terms of suspense and page turning however a great novel that will be talked about for years to come
